GCC ministerial cmte endorses uniform law for expedited mail, parcels

RIYADH, June 2 (KUNA) -- A Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministerial committee on Thursday endorsed a uniform law and the executive rule regulating expedited mail and parcels business inside the six-member bloc.
The step was taken during the 25th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Meeting on Post and Telecommunications Ministerial Committee, attended by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Communications Sector at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Communications Eng. Nasser Mohammad Al-Kandari.
Al-Kandari represented Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of Communications Essa Ahmad Al-Kandari at the meeting.
Today, the committee discussed a host of major issues, and recommendations submitted by the GCC Committee for Undersecretaries of Post and Telecommunications. These included an inter-GCC expedited post project for promoting e-government services and e-trade, Al-Kandari told KUNA.
The meeting referred the project of "Gulf Express" to the team tasked with the expedited post project to study it and offer recommendations.
In addition, the ministerial meeting approved a recommendation for unified purchase of post supplies and equipment in the GCC member states.
The technical bureau of the GCC Secretariat was assigned with following up developments of applying the ministerial resolution on the ceiling of cellular roaming services. Recommendations and proposals are to be offered. (pick up previous) yms.ams.msa
