KUWAIT, May 31 (KUNA) -- The UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad met on Tuesday with the delegation of Yemeni government participating in the UN-brokered peace negotiations currently hosted by Kuwait.
Ould Cheikh Ahmad is set to meet later today the two delegations of Ansarullah movement and General People's Congress (GPC) so as to bring different views closer over pending issues.
During his meetings, he will listen to some notes submitted by the Yemeni warring parties pertaining to detainees and prisoners for consideration and issuing recommendations to find the best solution to this humanitarian dossier.
It is expected that the envoy and the two delegations (Ansarullah movement and GPC) will resume the discussion of some issues regarding challenges facing Yemen in this "critical phase" and their perceptions for the upcoming period, mainly the security and political levels.
On Saturday and Sunday, Ould Cheikh Ahmad received the data from the Yemeni teams on detainees and prisoners held by every party in order to release them in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
He urged the parties in a press conference on Monday to double efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
He believed that stability in Yemen is a fundamental demand for the Yemeni people who have been suffering from deteriorating economic conditions, and water and electricity cutoff. (end) am.hm
