IRBIL, May 31 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) distributed 1,800 food parcels on Iraqi families displaced in Irbil and Dohuk in Kurdistan region, Iraq.
Director of Disasters and Emergency at KRCS Youssef Al-Me'raj told KUNA that that the Society continues this campaign, which began this year, working to alleviate the sufferings of the displaced Iraqis.
A large number of food parcels were distributed to families in Irbil and Dohuk during the past two days, he said.
Meanwhile, 1,200 food parcels were distributed to Yazidi families displaced from Sinjar to Shekhan district located in Dohuk governorate, he added.
KRCS also distributed 600 parcels on newly displaced families in Makhmur district western Irbil, a region adjacent to Iraqi lands under the control of the so called Islamic State (IS), he said.
This is the fifth humanitarian campaign held by KRCS in Kurdistan region upon the instructions of the "Humanitarian Leader" His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahamd Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he reaffirmed.
KRCS commenced distributing humanitarian aid to displaced Iraqi since last year, as it distributed 40,000 food parcels in all of Kurdistan region governorates. (end) sbr.lb
