Kuwait E-content Award ceremony kicked off at Bayan Palace on Monday under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The ceremony held to honor the winners, was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, top Sheikhs, and senior officials.
Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), which is organizing the award, aimed to invest in human resources to develop technology science in the country, said KFAS' Director-General Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin in his opening speech.
The foundation is preparing its strategic plan for 2017-2021, to provide better means of boosting the abilities of youth to achieve development, he added.
Meanwhile, Shihab-Eldin mentioned the role of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in establishing KFAS, also thanking His Highness Sheikh Sabah for his continuous support for the foundation.
The official also spoke of KFAS' other awards aiming to develop societies, including the "Abdulrahman Al-Sumait Prize for African Development" and "Anwar Al-Nouri award for the best Arab PHD thesis in the educational field". Speaking on behalf of the winners, Ahmad Al-Saleh said that the world is now depending on information technology and digital contents to execute different official transactions in education, health, commerce and other fields.
Kuwait on its part, is applying technology sciences in the field of education to create further development and encourage the talents of youth, said Al-Saleh. (end) ag
