Arab FMs laud His Highness Amir's in Yemeni peace negotiations

CAIRO, May 28 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Council on Saturday commended pertinacious efforts by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to facilitate the ongoing UN-backed Yemeni peace talks in Kuwait.
Assistant Foreign Minister for the Arab Affairs Aziz Al-Dihani made the statement to KUNA on Saturday on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the council on the level of foreign ministers in Cairo.
He said that he was pride of the praise and appreciation of His Highness the Amir for hosting the Yemeni peace talks.
Participants in today's extraordinary ministerial meeting spoke highly and positively of His Highness the Amir, Al-Dihani said.
They also lauded the role of First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah following up the talks since the start.
They are all optimistic that Kuwait is hosting the talks, expecting positive outcome, he said.
In the meantime, Al-Dihani said that today's meeting had major topics on the agenda, topped with coordination for the Arab action regarding the Palestinian cause ahead of the international conference for peace in the Middle East slated for June 3 in Paris.
It also reviewed developments in Libya, as a mini-committee was formed to reformulate a draft resolution that will outline the future Arab moves to support the North African country.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Dr. Anwar Al-Kerkash expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir for his efforts to help find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Yemen.
"We appreciate Kuwaiti leadership's eagerness to render Yemeni peace talks a real success," Al-Kerkash said at the Arab foreign ministers meeting.
"The peaceful solution is the only option that is able to reunify Yemenis." For his part, Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdulmalak Al-Mikhlafi spoke highly about Kuwait's hosting of the intra-Yemeni talks and His Highness the Amir's great efforts to create conducive environment for Yemeni negotiating teams to reach positive outcome.
He applauded the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ould Cheikh Ahmed's sincere and serious mediation among Yemeni negotiators to broker a deal to end the Yemeni crisis.
Al-Mikhlafi stressed that the government's delegation aims to uphold the cessation of hostilities agreement in the coming period to help Yemenis enjoy trouble-free holy fasting month of Ramadan, to start on June 6.
He added that government is eager to deal positively with the talks to bring to a halt the suffering of Yemeni people.
Algerian Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel stated that Algeria is appreciative of Kuwait's constructive role in the Yemeni crisis and its hosting of the peace talks.
He underlined the necessity of a diplomatic solution to the crisis to restore security and stability of Yemen and retain people's unity. (end) ms.rg.ibi
