Kuwait backs efforts to unify Arab countries - lawmaker

CAIRO, May 28 (KUNA) -- Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament and Kuwait's National Assembly Member Mohammad Al-Jabri has emphasized Kuwait's keenness to unify Arab world and find peaceful solutions to regional conflicts.
In statements to KUNA following his participation in the Arab Parliament's Economic and Financial Affairs Committee meeting, Al-Jabri lauded Kuwait's role in hosting and supporting intra-Yemeni peace talks.
He noted that the Yemeni parties had reached a blind alley, but His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has managed to persuade them to return back to the negotiating table, Al-Jabri noted.
He criticized foreign interferences and support to terrorist groups in Yemen.
On the other hand, he commended the role played by Kuwait and the Saudi-led coalition to back the legitimate government in Yemen.
He pointed out that the Arab Parliament has put forward an initiative to resolve the Syrian crisis through a national dialogue hosted by an Arab country.
Al-Jabri urged the international community to act swiftly to defend Syrian people from the agressiion of the ruling regime and terrorist groups.
On the committee meeting, Al-Jabri said that it has tackled the pan-Arab investment agreement, the activation of previously signed Arab trade agreements and coordinating efforts to achieve water and food security. (end) mfm.asm.ibi
