UN Yemen envoy meets with Ansarullah, GPC teams

KUWAIT, May 28 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad met with the delegations of Ansarullah movement and General People's Congress (GPC) in Kuwait on Saturday.
Today's meeting is part of UN-facilitated peace negotiations held in Kuwait and attended by all Yemeni rivals.
During the meeting, they discussed several main issues, primarily militant withdrawal mechanisms, handover of weapons, resumption of political dialogue, restoration of state facilities and release of prisoners and detainees.
They also addressed necessary safeguards and assurances for the application of agreements and deals reached by Yemeni rivals within the framework of agreed terms of reference.
During a recent press conference, the UN envoy for Yemen challenged that the UN would never let Yemenis down, and would even carry on with its efforts to push the Yemeni stakeholders involved in Kuwait consultations toward a peaceful solution to the crisis. (end) om.mt
