WASHINGTON, May 27 (KUNA) -- A British citizen who confessed to a plan to bomb London's Heathrow airport has been sentenced to 40 years in prison by a US court, the Department of Justice (DoJ) revealed Friday.
33-year-old Minh Quang Pham was arrested in London in 2012, not long after he returned from a trip to Yemen, where he was trained by American members of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula to create propaganda material and "wage jihad, the DoJ said.
The Yemen-based branch of the group is considered by the US government to be the most dangerous.
Pham was extradited to the US in 2015, and confessed to "providing material support" to Al-Qaeda in January of this year, the statement added.
Following his 40-year prison term, Pham will be under "a life term of supervised release" imposed by the judge. (end) ys.ibi
