Kuwait's nat'l ice hockey team hammer Qatar's in Bahrain open championship

MANAMA, May 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's nat'l ice hockey team defeated the Qatari team 10-1 in the opening match of the Bahrain open championship on Friday.
The win put the Kuwaiti team face-to-face with the hosts in a showdown tomorrow, said secretary of the Kuwait winter sports club Bashar Al-Nassar.
Kuwait is taking part in this four-day friendly championship in support of the Bahraini national ice hockey team which declared its association recently, he told KUNA.
The championship gathered the four national teams of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman; it will come to a close on Monday, Al-Nassar added.
Kuwait is the seat of the organizing committee of the Gulf winter sports games chaired by Fheid Al-Ajmy - the chairman of Kuwait winter sports club. Al-Nassar doubles as secretary general of the committee. (end) mga.gb
