France to deploy over 90,000 security forces for Euro '16

PARIS, May 25 (KUNA) -- France is to deploy over 90,000 security force around the country as part of a comprehensive security plan for the forthcoming 2016 UEFA European Championship (UEFA Euro 2016), slated on June 10th, official media reported Wednesday.
The event's matches are scheduled to take place between June 10th and July 10th in 10 French cities.
The security plan aims at preventing attacks by terrorists during the tournament's matches, and securing the safety and value of this sports event, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said in press statements, according to France 24 TV.
French authorities are currently exerting all their efforts to counter any terrorist attack firmly, Cazeneuve said, noting, however, that even a 100 percent of precautionary measures would not guarantee non-existence of threats.
Fans and spectators are to go through security checkups outside the stadiums in the cities where the matches will take place, he said, pledging to resolve all security gaps at the Stade de France (the National Stadium of France) before the event kicks off. (end) mmb.ma
