Trump wins Washington primary, handful of delegates remaining to be official GOP nominee

WASHINGTON, May 25 (KUNA) -- Presumptive Republican nominee for US presidential elections Donald Trump won Washington State primary, needing only a handful of delegates to gain enough to be the official nominee.
By winning Washington, the real estate mogul is but a couple of delegates shy to reach the 1,237 delegates needed to the Republican nomination. Trump currently has around 1,230 after Washington, which offered 44 and trump has won at least 40 of them.
Trump became the only Republican candidate after consecutively winning primaries and caucuses, the last being Indiana, where huge results forced his opponents, namely senator from Texas Ted Cruz and Ohio's governor John Kasich.
Washington State did also hold a democratic primary Tuesday, but according to the US election system, it holds no real impact on result as it offers no delegates but more of a popularity contest. (end) yt.hb
