WASHINGTON, May 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Canada Abdulhameed Al-Failakawi participated in the inauguration of Al-Rahma Mosque in Ottawa with attendance of the capital city's mayor, Jim Watson, and ambassadors of Arab and Muslim countries.
Kuwait is the major financial contributor to the establishment of Al-Rahma Mosque which will serve a large Muslim community in Ottawa, Al-Failakawi said in a speech during the inauguration.
The funding by Kuwait, he added, was part of the country's support of humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives in different parts of the world.
Kuwait has always called for promotion of moderation, tolerance and co-existence in multi-cultural societies, said Al-Failakawi, cited by a statement by Kuwait's Embassy to Canada, sent to KUNA in Washington D.C..
Kuwait, he added, would continue its backing to Islamic centers which followed transparent criteria in collecting and spending of donations.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent a message of support to Al-Rahma Mosque, affiliated to Al-Sunna Society. (end) sd.bs
