Seven strikes in Syria, 12 in Iraq target IS - Coalition

WASHINGTON, May 24 (KUNA) -- The global coalition military forces continued to attack the so-called Islamic State (IS), conducting seven strikes in Syria and 12 in Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on Tuesday. In Syria near Al-Shaddadi, one strike struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS vehicle and an IS fighting position, the announcement said.
Near Ar Raqqah, four strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS military garrison, it said.
Near Ayn Isa, one strike struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an IS vehicle, it said.
Near Dayr Az Zawr, one strike struck an IS tactical unit, it said. In Iraq near Al Baghdadi, one strike destroyed an IS vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), the statement said.
Near Fallujah, four strikes struck an IS tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL light machine gun, an IS front-end loader, an IS mortar system, three IS VBIED storage facilities, two IS rocket positions and three IS mortar positions.
Near Kisik, one strike struck an ISIL IED storage facility, it said.
Near Mosul, four strikes destroyed two IS vehicles, an IS VBIED, an IS mortar system and an IS fighting position, and suppressed an IS mortar position, the statement said. Near Qayyarah, one strike struck two IS headquarters, it said.
Near Sinjar, one strike suppressed an IS mortar position, it said. (end) rm.gb
