Kuwait's crude oil exports to China at 300,000 bpd

TOKYO, May 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's crude oil exports to China in the first four months of this year edged up 0.9 percent from the same period of 2015 to 300,000 barrels per day (bpd), government data showed Tuesday In April alone, Kuwait exported 289,000 bpd to the world's second-largest oil consumer, down 26.9 percent on the year, according to the General Administration of Customs.
China's overall imports of crude oil last month rose 7.6 percent from a year earlier to 7.96 million bpd. Russia remained nation's top supplier, with its shipments surging 52.4 percent to a record high of 1.18 million bpd, followed by Saudi Arabia with 1.0 million bpd; down 21.8 percent. Angola became third, with imports from the country jumping 39.4 percent to 973,000 bpd. Iraq ranked fourth and Oman fifth, respectively.
According to the "Short-Term Energy Outlook" report released earlier this month by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), China's consumption of petroleum and other liquid fuels is forecast to grow by 0.4 million bpd in both 2016 and 2017. China's demand for hydrocarbon gas liquids will continue to grow at a fairly steady pace as additional propane dehydrogenation plants come online, the EIA expects. Gasoline and jet fuel consumption is also expected to grow in 2016, it added. (end) mk.hb
