ISTANBUL, May 22 (KUNA) -- Deputy Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Anwar Al-Hasawi said on Sunday it is important to promote Kuwait's humanitarian activities and initiatives across the world.
He said in a statement to KUNA that the KRCS is participating in an exhibition held on the sidelines of the World Humanitarian Summit just as part of its role in the humanitarian and charitable field, especially regarding refugees and internally displaced persons.
He underlined the significance of the exhibition as a major humanitarian and social event that attracts all humanitarian organizations and agencies to the same place in order to promote their humanitarian and relief efforts.
Boasting of Kuwait's humanitarian contributions worldwide, the senior KRCS official said Kuwait has now become a world icon for humanitarian activities and efforts serving people from different world countries.
On his part, the Information Ministry's foreign media researcher Ahmad Dashti said Kuwait's involvement in the summit came at the invitation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, noting that humanitarian needs have largely increased since the World War II.
He boasted that Kuwait attaches much attention to the humanitarian domain so it is well-positioned on the world humanitarian map.
Dashti reiterated his country's keenness on partaking in all humanitarian forums and gatherings with a view to manifesting Kuwait's great humanitarian role.
He added that thanks to all these humanitarian efforts and initiatives, His Highness the Amir was awarded the UN title of the Humanitarian Leader and the State of Kuwait as the Humanitarian Center. (end) rs.mt
