Saudi forces kill 4 terrorists in Makkah, arrest 2 others in Jeddah

JEDDAH, May 5 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia's authorities announced Thursday that four terrorists have been killed in Makkah, and two others arrested in Jeddah during security raids, official media reported.
Field and technical monitoring, and information verifications led to the identification of a terrorist cell hideout in the Makkah region, specifically between Taif and the Holy City of Makkah, interior ministry's security spokesperson said, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Security forces stormed the hideout, sieged the entire place, and engaged in fire exchange with the terrorists, the ministry said, adding that two terrorist were killed as a result, while two others have committed suicide by blowing up themselves using their explosive belts.
Meanwhile, another terrorists' hideout, used as a base to administer their terrorist activities, was also raided by security forces in the Jeddah area, arresting two individuals, the spokesperson said, adding that investigation is currently underway with the arrested suspects to determine their connection to the cell and its members.
Security operations are still ongoing as teams of explosives experts are currently cleaning up the two locations, the ministry said, adding that a follow-up detailed announcement is to be issued soon. (end) nh.ma
