Kuwait, Bangladesh issue statement in conclusion of His Highness PM visit

DHAKA, April 5 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah ended a three-day official visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, a final statement said Thursday.
During the visit, His Highness the Prime Minister paid a courtesy call on President of Bangladesh Mohammed Abdul Hamid, where they emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between Bangladesh and Kuwait both in bilateral, regional and multilateral arenas, the statement said.
The two counterparts praised deep relations between Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
They also recalled the visit of His Highness the Amir in 1974 and the Foreign Minister of Kuwait to the OIC Summit in Lahore in 1974.
During the visit, the two sides agreed to cooperate in various fields and to expand the scope of the partnership in the fields of trade, investments, energy and power, defense, human resources, infrastructure and in the priority sectors in the Economic Zones under Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) and IT parks.
They also expressed satisfaction at the signing of the ggreement on promotion and reciprocal protection of investment between Bangladesh and Kuwait, where they affirmed that it would facilitate Kuwaiti investments in Bangladesh, the statement added.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh appreciated the development assistance extended by Kuwait to Bangladesh, in particular KD-15-million economic assistance from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for the construction of Paira Bridge in Pauakhali.
The visit also saw the participation of a high-level business delegation representing the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), which held fruitful talks with peers from the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), as they signed a Protocol of Cooperation.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh deeply appreciated the Government of Kuwait for hosting a large number of Bangladeshi work force.
The two Prime Ministers also signed an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic, official or special passport holders, where they affirmed that this would facilitate official contacts and visits to the mutual benefit of the two peoples.
The two Prime Ministers also expressed satisfaction over the excellent level of cooperation in the field of defense, as they stressed that signing of the Agreement on Cooperation in military field would expand the defense cooperation.
Furthermore, Bangladesh Prime Minister deeply appreciated Kuwait's active role in humanitarian assistance, including its hosting of a series of international humanitarian pledging conferences for Syria.
Both sides welcomed the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and commended the efforts of the concerned countries and the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to the Geneva-I Communique as basis for a political solution to the Syrian crisis that would put an end to the bloodshed, preserve the independence and territorial integrity of Syria, and fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people for a democratic state.
They also called for the realization of negotiations in the Middle East based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative.
They also called on Israel to refrain from any unilateral actions, including continued settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and its holy sites, and urged both sides to continue their negotiations to reach a "two-state solution".
The Bangladeshi side also expressed appreciation for Kuwait's hosting of the Yemeni peace talks held under the auspices of the UN, which began on April 21.
Both sides welcomed the agreement reached between the P5+1 and Iran, and stressed the importance of commitment to the implementation of that agreement.
They also stressed the importance of normal relations between Iran and the GCC based on principles of respect of the sovereignty of states and non-interference in internal affairs, as well as commitment to good neighborliness.
They also agreed to continue cooperation to counter terrorism and violent extremism for peace and stability.
Prime Minister of Bangladesh thanked His Highness the Prime Minister for his visit, where she also extended a cordial invitation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to visit Bangladesh at an early date.
On his part, His Highness the Prime Minister also thanked Bangladeshi counterpart for the warmth and cordiality shown and for the gracious hospitality extended to him and members of his delegation during their stay in Dhaka, as he also extended an invitation to Prime Minister of Bangladesh to visit Kuwait.
