Yemeni talks resume after three-day suspension

KUWAIT, May 4 (KUNA) -- The trilateral Yemeni teams resumed peace talks on Wednesday in a joint working session that was agreed upon, three days after the government delegation suspended their participation in the talks due to attacks on a military camp in western Omran province.
The three Yemeni delegations are expected to tackle the general framework proposed by the UN and how to implement security, political, humanitarian, and economic topics for the next period.
Last Saturday, UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed said that he received two proposals regarding prospects of a comprehensive vision to the whole country, particularly security and political issues, including withdrawal of troops, and handing over weapons.
The parties also expressed commitment to abide by the UN Security Council resolution 2216, international decisions, the Arabian Gulf initiative, and the outcome of Yemen National Dialogue Conference.
The talks, hosted by Kuwait, resumed after tremendous efforts exerted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Hamad Al-Sabah and GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdulatif Al-Zayani, since the past two days.
The three delegations are the Yemeni government, Ansarullah Movement, and General People's Congress (GPC). (pickup previous) am.mb
