Syrian people's major donors call for paying pledges made in London last Feb.

KUWAIT, May 2 (KUNA) -- Major donors for the Syrian people called on all donors who pledged contributions during last February meeting in London to fulfill their pledges for the international humanitarian organizations, in yet another bid to alleviate suffering of Syrians.
The major donors, in a statement at the end of their 7th coordination meeting, said donors should at least honor 50 percent of their pledges made at London ahead of a global humanitarian summit, due in the Turkish city of Istanbul end of this month.
The participants in the meeting called for a detailed report explaining where donations were spent.
They expressed grave concern over the bloody bombardment against the Syrian city of Aleppo that killed and wounded hundreds of people including medical teams. They underlined the importance of halting fighting and delivering humanitarian aid for people in besieged areas.
They urged the international community to live up to its responsibility and put an end to the Syrian conflict, which was in its sixth year. They urged the warring parties to abide by relevant UN resolutions by allowing safe delivery of aid for hundreds of thousands of besieged civilians.
The Istanbul humanitarian summit, they said, should contribute to improving humanitarian conditions in Syria.
The participants would be inviting Syria's neighboring countries and the World Bank for their next meeting, due in September.
They commended the neighboring countries, especially Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, for carrying a huge burden by hosting large amounts of Syrian refugees. (Pickup previous) amn.bs
