Kuwaiti media officials laud ASBU festival in Tunisia

By Khaled Jabbar HAMMAMET, Tunisia, May 2 (KUNA) -- The Arab Festival for Radio and Television is a significant platform for media personalities and officials to share their experiences and exchange their expertise, Kuwaiti officials stressed Monday.
The annual event, organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), hosts various activities, including contests for television and radio programs, workshops for media engineering, judging committees, and a media exhibition, Saleh Al-Shammari, director of operations, news coverages, and satellite communication department at Kuwait TV (KTV), stated to KUNA.
The festival provides an opportunity to learn and benefit from the expertise of prominent Arab and international media figures who are taking part in the event, Al-Shammari said, noting that KTV is currently competing in various contests at the festival through several produced programs and projects in the categories of documentary, talk, and investigative news.
For his part, Meshari Al-Buaijan, director of operations and implementation department at KTV-1, told KUNA that he is currently taking part in the festival as a judge for TV dramas category, adding that KTV-produced series "Tora Bora" is competing in that category.
Meanwhile, Talal Al-Haifi, of the variety programs sector at KTV, told KUNA that the State of Kuwait is keen on being present at such Arab festivals and occasions, noting that this year's event focuses on supporting the Palestinian Cause and fighting terrorism.
According to ASBU's website, the festival's objectives are to contribute to the development of radio and television production and upgrading its quality, in addition to monitoring serious and innovative trends in Arab radio and television production. (end) ksj.ma
