JEDDAH, May 2 (KUNA) -- The 37th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Undersecretaries for Environmental Affairs kicked off on Monday to prepare for the 20th meeting of GCC Ministers in charge of Environmental Affairs in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Undersecretary of environment and sustainbale development at the Meteorology and Environment department in Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdul Basit Sairafi said in his opening speech, that the meeting will view the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz's vision of boosting the joint GCC work in the field of environment.
It will also tackle the strategic work plan project of GCC ministers of environment's committee work, and following up with the implementation of the 19th meeting of GCC Ministers in charge of Environmental Affairs, and the 36th meeting of GCC Undersecretaries for Environmental Affairs, he said.
The meeting will also discuss the study of establishing GCC environmental monitoring center and the project of GCC environmental partnership and work program, along with the training programs within the framework of Sultan Qaboos' donation for humanitarian and environmental sector, he added.
It will also talk over the technical developments of the GCC's environmental electronic portal, as well as the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention, he said. (end) nh.mk.lb
