Kuwait's Al-Othman wins best coach award in Qatar

DOHA, May 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti futsal coach Hamad Al-Othman won the "best coach award" in Qatar's Futsal League, for the 2015-16 season, after receiving the highest votes for the prize on Sunday.
The Kuwaiti coach has beaten out a number of prominent Arab and international nominees from Morocco, Egypt, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Brazil, to win the first edition of the prize.
He expressed, in a statement to KUNA, his pride and appreciation for winning the award, which, he calls, is a great pay-off for all the efforts he exerted with his team, Al-Wakrah Sport Club, in achieving significant results during this season.
Al-Othman dedicated the prize to all the Kuwaiti people, particularly futsal lovers, expressing his aspiration to achieve advanced ranks on regional and international levels in this sport.
He also indicated that he had coached Qatar Sport Club for two consecutive seasons, starting from 2012, before moving to Al-Wakrah this year, adding that he has contributed to improving the sport of futsal in both clubs and helped them accomplish positive results at the local level.
He expressed his hope that the sport of futsal continues to improve and advance in the Gulf States in order to match the level of European and international teams, pointing out the State of Kuwait's distinctive level in futsal in the Gulf and Asia.
Al-Othman is the only professional Kuwaiti coach overseas. He has long and colorful experience in futsal as a former player and current coach, during which he has won several local and regional championships. (end) nnd.ma
