Conservatives win most seats at Iran's parliament

TEHRAN, April 30 (KUNA) -- Conservatives have won most seats in Iran's Shura Consultative Assembly, in the first and second rounds of parliamentary elections, with 126 MPs.
According to the announced results, reformists came second with 112 seats, then independent MPs with 42, and moderates with only nine ones, the Fars News Agency said on Saturday.
Winner MPs were classified according to their political stances and performance and their speeches over the past period.
Up to 221 MPs were elected in the first round held on February 26, and 68 in the run-off on Friday, April 29.
The last seat in the 290-member Assembly, for the Isfahan constituency, will be decided in by-elections to be held later.
On Friday, Iranians voted on 68 vacant places in 55 constituencies in 21 provinces.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry said in a statement that the turnout in the Friday run-off hit 59 percent, three percent higher than the first round. (pickup previous) fz.msa
