Iran substitutes for Canada to sell heavy water to US

TEHRAN, April 30 (KUNA) -- Iran has sold its heavy water to US at market price, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said, adding Iran has substituted for Canadian companies in the American markets.
Iran substitutes for Canada to sell heavy water to US.'We are fulfilling commitments and expect the other side to do so,' Behrouz Kamalvandi said talking to IRNA Saturday.
'We have 130 tons of heavy water that can be kept according to JCPOA. Also, we have 70 tons in surplus that should be presented to the international markets,' said Kamalvandi.
Iran and world powers reached a landmark nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on July 14, 2015.
When Iran's peaceful nuclear program was verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), 'Implementation Day' of the JCPOA was announced and anti-Iran sanctions were lifted on January 16, 2016.
Heavy water that world needs for a year is 95 tons, said Kamalvandi, adding 75 percent of the figure is related to the American market.(end).
