KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah has lauded the solid ties between Kuwait and Britain.
In a statement during celebrations held at the British embassy on the occasion of the Queen Elizabeth's birthday on Wednesday, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah recalled Britain's support to Kuwait over history, since the protection agreement in 1899.
He also highlighted Britain's major role in the Liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion of the country in 1990.
On the deal with the European Union (EU), including Britain, to buy Eurofighter jets, the minister thanked both for cooperation in this vital field.
For his part, the British ambassador in Kuwait Matthew Lodge appreciated the deep ties between the two countries.
He pointed to a ceremony held at the embassy earlier this year to mark Kuwait's 55th Independence Day, 25th anniversary of Liberation Day and the 10th anniversary of His Highness the Amir's assumption of power. (end) hrz.msa
