Min. Al-Saleh call on oil workers to call off strike

KUWAIT, April 18 (KUNA) -- Deputy Premier and Acting Oil Minister Anas Al-Saleh Monday called on all oil sector employees to return back to their work stations for the higher goal of preserving Kuwait's reputation and interests.
In a statement issued by Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), Al-Saleh, also Minister of Finance, reiterated that the workers' financial benefits and salaries are not to be tampered with.
He also conveyed gratitude of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to staff of KNPC and all in-duty workers at the oil sector.
The statement noted that Al-Saleh, during a visit to KNPC's Ahmadi headquarters, was informed by reserves of oil derivatives lasting up to 30 days.
Oil sector laborers started Sunday a general strike on protest against a proposed austerity measures on the background of the sharp decline of oil prices. (pickup previous) osj.hb
