Kuwait top contributor to joint Islamic labor -- Turkish official

ISTANBUL, April 13 (KUNA) -- Director General of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) Musa Kulaklikaya hailed the efforts of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to develop joint Islamic labor.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad has made numerous prominent contributions, aiming to boost economic cooperation among Islamic states, Kulaklikaya told KUNA in an interview on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, he noted Kuwait's chain of contributions to support development, including a financial aid to establish SESRIC's new headquarters in Ankara, Turkey, as well as donations by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to launch projects in 45 Islamic states.
The official also mentioned Kuwait's contributions to the Islamic Development Bank as a founding member, for boosting trade and achieve development.
As for the Islamic Summit Conference to be held in Turkey tomorrow (Thursday), Kulaklikaya pointed out the OIC important achievement, completing the OIC-2025 Programme of Action, for developing joint-Islamic labor in different fields for the next ten years.
The summit will address several vital issues including religious extremism, terrorism, the Syrian crisis, the Palestinian cause and the current situation in Yemen, Iraq, Libya and other conflict-stricken Muslim countries, said the official.
SESRIC, established under the OIC, collates, processes and disseminates socio-economic statistics and information on and for utilization by the member countries, he said.
The center also studies and evaluates economic and social development in the member countries to help generate proposals that will initiate and enhance co-operation among them. It also organizes training programs in selected fields, geared to the needs of the member countries as well as to the general objectives of the OIC.(end) rs.ag
