Sixth suspect arrested in terrorism investigation in Belgium

BRUSSELS, April 9 (KUNA) -- In addition to the five suspects who were reported to have been arrested in Brussels on Friday related to terrorism investigations, a sixth man was also detained, according to Belgian media reports Saturday.
The sixth suspect is Bilal El Makhoukhi who was convicted and sentenced at last year's trial for the organisation called Sharia4Belgium in Antwerp, news network VRT reported.
He left to fight in Syria in 2012 and returned to Belgium after having lost a leg while fighting there. He was given a five-year prison sentence, three of which suspended. Bilal El Makhoukhi was serving his sentence at home with an electronic surveillance tag.
He was detained yesterday at his family home in the Brussels district of Laken. It is still unclear as to what role he is suspected of having played in 22 March terror attacks in Brussels, VRT said.(end) nk.tg
