AKKAR, North Lebanon, April 8 (KUNA) -- Naaman Al-Rifaee has a special gift; spending long hours in miniature sculpturing on tips of pencils and turning them into artefacts.
In remarks to KUNA, Al-Rifaee said he opted to get himself engaged in such a hobby as a new artistic challenge after spending years in ornamenting wood and stones as well as practicing Arabic calligraphy.
"I made the first experiments some nine months ago. It required a lot of accuracy to transform the first pencil into an artefact," he said in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) His mastering of calligraphy paved the way for him to be engaged in changing the pencils into artistic pieces.
He has already transformed 60 pencils. In one of his most tiring endeavors, he managed to inscribe the Koranic Al-Ikhlas Sura on a single pencil.
Al-Rifaee called for devoting care for gifted Arabs to "portray the bright image of our Arab-Islamic civilization." (end) wsm.rk
