KUWAIT, April 7 (KUNA) -- The first aid dispatch to the displaced families in Iraq was delivered, Kuwaiti Consulate General in Basra announced on Thursday.
Consul General Yousef Ashour Al-Sabbagh told KUNA that the first dispatch was distributed to 750 displaced families in Iraq to alleviate their suffering; more than 3,500 families will also benefit from additional aid packages, including food and medicine, in the next few days.
Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), Iraq Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and the Consulate General supervised handing out the aid packages.
The aid campaign comes in line with a USD 200 million grant announced by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to support the displaced Iraqis. (end) maa.nfm
