(WITH SPT-KUWAIT-GCC-YOUTH) RIYADH, April 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Information, Minister of state for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah arrived in the Saudi capital on Wednesday to chair the Kuwaiti delegation taking part in the 30th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Youth and Sports due later today.
The minister's delegation was received at the airport by the State of Kuwait Ambassador to the Kingdom, Sheikh Thamer Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Saudi officials and other Kuwaiti diplomats.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes General Director of the Public Authority for Sports Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, General Director of the Public Authority for Youth Abdul-Rahman Bedah Al-Mutairi and Deputy General Director of the Public Authority for Sports Dr. Humoud Flaiteh.
The GCC meeting is scheduled to tackle plans for boosting sports and youth fields in the GCC countries and prospected implementation of a visionary scheme proclaimed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz for encouraging voluntary work in the Council's member states.
Earlier in Kuwait upon his departure, Minister Sheikh Salman said in remarks to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this event is of high importance as it tackles most appropriate means and plans for care and encouragement for the young generation in the GCC states. He expressed hope that this meeting would end with recommendations that contribute to enhancing the role of youth and boost social sports.
Kuwait supports the GCC youth and sports joint work, he said, indicating that the Kuwaiti delegation during the Riyadh meeting would propose a plan on creativity and excellence award for the youth. (end) yms.rk
