Clashes kill 7 ANA soldiers, 7 rebels in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, April 1 (KUNA) -- At least seven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and seven rebels were killed and 14 others wounded during clashes in Afghanistan's western Herat and southern Kandahar provinces, said ministry on Friday.
According to a statement by Afghan Ministry of Defense, five rebels were eliminated and 10 others wounded during an ANA operation in the Ghorak district of Kandahar. Seven ANA soldiers were also killed in the offensive, the statement added.
Moreover, the ministry confirmed that two bomb-making experts were perished by their own explosives in Herat province while four other rebels and a child were injured in the detonation.
The clashes came at a time when Afghan security forces have taken over the security control of the country following the withdrawal of NATO/ISAF forces from Afghanistan in December 2014. (end) sbk.tg
