Insider attack kills 7 policemen in S. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, March 24 (KUNA) -- At least seven policemen were killed in an insider attack on a check post in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province, said official on Thursday.
A local policeman crossed to the Taliban rebels after he opened fire on colleagues at an outpost in Arghandab district of the province, killing seven of them. A spokesman for the provincial governor, Samim Ikhpelwak confirmed the incident saying that a delegation has been sent to the area to investigate the incident.
The attack came at a time when Afghan security forces have taken over the security control of the country following the withdrawal of NATO/ISAF forces from Afghanistan in December 2013 after 13 years of war against the Taliban rebels. (end) sbk.nfm
