1963 -- The UN opened an office in Kuwait to offer technical aid and expertise.
1997 -- Police banned distribution of Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper of Abdel Aziz Al-Mesaeed. The license was withdrawn and granted to another newspaper of the same name, but owned by Jassem Boudai.
2000 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah opened Al-Sabah Family Fiwan in Bayan district.
2001 -- A court commuted execution verdict against Alaa Hussein, charged with heading an interim government, formed by Saddam Hussein's regime during its occupation of the country.
2006 -- UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nuhayyan granted His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah "Zayed Award" for his constructive role for service of Arab and Gulf affairs and causes.
2008 -- The 18th Cairo International Cinema Festival for Children declared the Kuwaiti-produced animated movie, "Nafoot Adventures," winner of two silver medals in a competition that involved 152 Arab and foreign films.
2012 -- The State of Kuwait Ambassador to the People's Republic of Lao, Nabil Rashed Al-Dekheel, delivered credentials to the Republic's President, Shomali Saignason, as the first resident Kuwaiti Ambassador in the republic.
2012 -- Al-Qadsiah Sports Club crowned champion of His Highness the Amir's 50th Soccer Tournament for the 14th time, beating Kazma 1-0. (end) rk
