GCC Information Ministers to ban dealing with Hezbollah-affiliate channels

RIYADH, March 8 (KUNA) -- Information Ministers of Arab Gulf countries agreed Tuesday to take all legal measures to prevent dealing with TV channels related to the Lebanese Hezbollah and its affiliate bodies.
The agreement is in compliance with decisions of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab Interior Ministers, both declaring Hezbollah and its affiliate bodies as "terrorist" groups, a statement said.
The statement, issued after the information ministers' meeting, said the legal measures would be applied on all production companies, producers and every media-related content relevant to Hezbollah.
These channels, said the ministers, aimed at inciting sedition and provoking chaos and violence.
These media practices, they said, were violating the sovereignty, security and independence of the GCC countries.
The statement said the ministers discussed ways of boosting common media action, and highlighting the moderate image of Islam. (pickup previous) od.bs
