400,000 Kuwaiti, non-Kuwaiti diabetics in Kuwait

KUWAIT, March 5 (KUNA) -- Internal medicine and diabetes consultant at the Amiri Hospital Dr. Abdul Nabi Al-Attar said that recent statistics showed that the number of diabetics of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti amounted to about 400,000 where treatment of each of them costs about USD 2,000 per year.
Al-Attar said in a statement on Saturday during the 7th awareness campaign for the prevention of diabetes organized by the hospital under the auspices of the Minister of Health Dr. Ali Al-Obeidi at the Avenues Mall that all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have entered the list of the 1st 10 countries in the spread of the disease.
He urged citizens and residents to visit the awareness campaign for testing glucose, blood pressure, blood sugar, triglycerides, cholestrol and carrying out a retina exam.(end).
