FM, NATO chief discuss regional, int'l issues

KUWAIT, Feb 29 (KUNA) -- First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah met with Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg, where they shed light on regional and international issues of common interest.
National Security Bureau Chief Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah was present at the meeting, that was held at the Foreign Ministry's Headquarters on Monday.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled reiterated Kuwait's unwavering support to the NATO since it joined NATO's Istanbul Cooperation Initiative in 2004; an initiative that aims to contribute to long-term global and regional security by offering countries of the broader Middle East region practical bilateral security cooperation with NATO.
On his part, The NATO chief lauded Kuwait's "essential and constructive" regional and international role in promoting peace and stability in the region. Stoltenberg also praised Kuwait's humanitarian aid that reached the unfortunates everywhere.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister's Office Affairs Ambassador Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Acting chairman of the information and security projects department at the National Security Bureau Sheikh Fawaz Mishal Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah and a number of officials.
