Turkish Air Force pound PKK positions N. Iraq

ISTANBUL, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- The Turkish fighter jets raided the positions of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraqi region of Kurdistan, the General Staff announced on Saturday.
The air raids, part of the fight against terrorism, were conducted on February 18 by F-16 and F-4E 2020 and backed by remotely-piloted aircraft, according to a statement by the general staff.
The warplanes hit their targets precisely and killed several PKK militants, the statement said, noting that the operation was based on intelligence that the banned PKK stored arsenals of weapons in the targeted areas. (end) ta.gb
