Putin, Obama express support to results of Munich's conf. on Syria

MOSCOW, Feb 14 (KUNA) -- Moscow and Washington have expressed their support for the results of the international conference to support Syria that was held recently in Munich, Germany, reported Russian presidency on Sunday.
The press office of the Russian presidency said that this support came during a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Barack Obama in which they positively valued the meeting of the International Group to support Syria, which was held on 11 February in Munich.
It added that the two sides stressed the need to adhere to the principles enshrined in the UN Security Council Resolution 2254, relating to humanitarian aspects and to develop standards for a cease-fire or in connection with the launch of a realistic political process.
Putin reaffirmed the necessity of forming a broad front against terrorism with the importance of abandoning double standards in this regard.
Putin also stressed the importance of establishing close working links between the representatives of the defense ministries of both countries in order to ensure the success of addressing the so-called Islamic State (IS) and other "terrorist organizations." Both sides agreed to activate the efforts of the diplomatic corps in both countries in order to comply with the declaration of the international conference to support Syria in Munich recently.
The two sides also discussed the situation in Ukraine, especially with regard to the implementation of the Minsk agreement, signed on February 21, 2015.(end) as.tg
