TUNIS, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Direct Aid society distributed aid to snow-affected areas in Beja governorate in northeastern Tunisia Saturday.
The aid is part of the Kuwaiti charity's snow relief campaign to help the poor families affected by the recent heavy snow fall on a number of cities in the northeastern province, Saad Al-Mudallal, director of Direct Aid office in Tunisia, stated to KUNA.
The aid included 370 families in Selyana, 400 in Jendouba, 500 in Kasserine, 500 in Kaf, and 400 in Beja, Al-Mudallal said, adding that the Kuwaiti charity has allocated EUR 79,340 to provide blankets to around 2,500 families.
Direct Aid's convoy drove around the four cities for over a week to distribute the aid, he said, noting that the convoy stopped later in Qasr Mezouar town, northern Beja, where it distributed wool blankets to 400 families.
Meanwhile, Mokhtar Al-Sayed Abdulraheem, supervisor of Direct Aid offices in Tunisia and Mauritania, told KUNA that the Kuwaiti snow relief campaign succeeded this year, in coordination with the Tunisian Union of Social Solidarity, in reaching farthest areas in the Tunisian northeastern governorates where it provided aid to families who were severely affected by the recent snow storms in Kasserine and Kaf.
