Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah underlines importance of MSC

MUNICH, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Deputy Premier and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah said Friday strengthening cooperation with friendly countries was key to confronting so-called Islamic State (IS).
Sheikh Khaled, speaking to KUNA on sidelines of Munich Security Conference (MSC), said the annual conference was one of the world's major security meetings.
The terrorist attacks against Paris last year and the IS targeting of Europe compel security officials from around the world to exchange views over ways of fighting terrorism, he said, "that is why our participation in the conference is important." Sheikh Khaled said he met with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian earlier. He Kuwait was keen on promoting military cooperation with major European countries, including France.
The MSC kicked off earlier with participation of over 30 international leaders and governments, and 70 foreign and defense ministers. (end) anj.bs
