TUNIS, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Tunisian authorities have taken extraordinary security precautions in the border regions in anticipation of a major international military operation in neighboring Libya, forecast to lead to wide-scale escape of Libyans to the country.
The Tunisian Government said in a statement on Friday it instructed local administrations in the governorates to take necessary measures to cope with possible emergencies.
Emergency committees are to be set up in the regions to liaise with the major security coordination commission, established on February 9th. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said it was examining emergency plans to cope with possible influx of Libyan refugees.
Tunisia is fearful thousands of Libyans may flee to the country in a scenario replaying the 2011 crisis when the Libyan rebellion broke out against the ousted regime of Moammar Al-Gadhafi. (end) ksj.rk
