India, UAE ink deals on security, investment cooperation

NEW DELHI, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- India and the UAE signed on Thursday four agreements to promote cooperation in cybersecurity, and investment in infrastructure, renewable energy and currency exchange.
The documents were inked after talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said Spokesman of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Vikas Swarup.
Later today Sheikh Mohammad, leading a senior-level delegation, held talks with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
During the meeting the Indian president spoke highly of the strategic partnership between India and the UAE and the vision of late president and founder of the UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for cementing the friendly relations.
President Mukherjee welcomed the four agreements signed today, saying that India is looking forward to promoting the relationship with the UAE to the level of comprehensive partnership as agreed during the visit to the UAE by Prime Minister Modi.
For his part, Sheikh Mohammad noted that there are huge potential of investment cooperation with India that could further cement the partnership between both countries.
He stated that the UAE will increase the volume of its investment in India to USD 75 billion, recalling the decision, made during Modi's visit to the UAE in last August, to launch the India-UAE fund for investment in infrastructure. Sheikh Mohammad, who arrived here yesterday on a three-day official visit to India, is scheduled to call at Bombay Stock Exchange in Mumbai city, Maharashtra state, for a meeting with Indian business leaders.
The UAE delegation includes Minister of Economy Sultan Al-Mansoori and Minister of Energy Suhail Mohammed Al-Mazrouei as well as other ministers, government officials and business leaders. (end) atk.gb
