BEIRUT, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) continued on Thursday distributing relief aid to 350 displaced Syrian families in the eastern Bekaa Valley, as part of the "warm winter 2016" campaign.
Head of the society's delegation, Nabil Buftain, told KUNA that field teams delivered parcels laden with food and detergents for the Syrian families in Al-Kark town in Zahlee area, eastern Lebanon.
The aid offered to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon is part of KRCS commitment in alleviating their suffering due to tough circumstances they encounter.
He conveyed appreciation of the families to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the political leadership and people of Kuwait for all the aid they offer to them.
Meanwhile, relief operations coordinator at the Lebanese Red Cross Society Yousef Butrus emphasized importance of such campaigns, applauding the leading role of KRCS in offering humanitarian relief to the refugees.
The society is implementing a relief campaign aimed at helping 30,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon, The Syrian refugees inhabiting Lebanon exceeded one million. Most of them are settled in the Bekaa Valley, Akkar, Tripoli, Al-Miniyeh, and Al-Dahiyeh, as they live in camps lacking fundamental elements of healthy living. (end) mah.lb
