Nanotechnology contributes to evolving computer resources -- official

KUWAIT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Acting Director General of Central Agency for Information Technology Qusai Al-Shatti stressed the important role of nanotechnology in developing computer resources and upgrading their efficiency.
In a speech during inauguration of the Kuwait International Nanotechnology Conference and Exhibition on Tuesday, Al-Shatti said this technology contributes to improving performance of computer and all smart devices, and doubling their capabilities.
Nanotechnology has a great influence on information technology in terms of its contributions to launching information revolution, and cutting cost of computers and their associates, he added.
Technology has become a fertile field for innovation and creativity in several and varied areas, he noted.
Meanwhile, Assistant Dean of Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies at Kuwaiti University Dr. Ali Bu Majdad said the conference seeks to present the latest scientific researches on nanotechnology in different specializations across the globe. Participants are keen on raising the society's awareness on nanotechnology as several countries work on investing billions of dollars in this field, he indicated.
Among the conference's axes is to focus on challenges and opportunities of nanotechnology applications in information technology, and other devices which could be used in these applications like computer and smart devices, he said.
The event deals with several materials of nanotechnology used in manufacturing medical and pharmaceutical industries, and the early detection as well as other different applications, he noted.
The three-day conference sheds light on the importance of implementing this technique in the areas of energy, medicine, agriculture, environment, engineering and communication. (end) skm.km.nfa.hm
