BEIRUT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) continued on Tuesday its humanitarian campaign to assist Syrian refugees in Western Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.
KRCS' head of the delegation Nabil Buftain told KUNA that 350 food parcels were delivered. The supplies, including 350 of cleaning materials' packages, were given to Syrian families in the town of Kherbet Rouha, the Western Bekaa region -- mostly located in southeastern Lebanon.
Buftain added that the KRCS' campaign is ongoing to cover the needs of Syrian families settling in various areas of Lebanon, stressing importance of the Kuwaiti Government's keenness to help and provide direct assistance to them at such critical times.
Lebanon is hosting more than 1.1 million Syrian refugees, registered by the UN refugee agency since start of the Syrian internal war. However, Lebanese officials estimate their number at more than 1.5 million.
The Kuwaiti relief teams have been braving hard winter weather conditions, reaching the refugees in remote areas of the country. Most of the mountainous areas have been blanketed with snow. (end) mah.ss
