Fatah, Hamas agree on steps to end political divide

GAZA, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- Leaders of the Palestinian Fatah and Hamas movements reached agreement on practical steps towards implementing the national reconciliation accords after meetings in Doha, capital of Qatar.
The agreement sets forth the measures to be taken by the leading institutions of both sides and other movements in a national framework to restore concord and reflect it on the ground, the Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported on Monday.
The agreement specifies the mechanisms of implementation of the previously reached concord agreement within a clear-cut timetable, according to the report.
The meetings, held in Doha in the last two days, gathered Fatah representative Azzam Al-Ahmad and Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal.
The Palestinian political divide has left the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and the Fatah-ruled West Bank virtually separated since 2006. (end) wab.gb
