ICRC resumes aid operations in Gaza after receiving safety assurances

GAZA, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) resumed its operations in Gaza Strip after receiving safty assurences after one day of suspension.
"Resumption of operations comes after descussing the issue with security authorities", said Suhair Zakkout, Spokesperson at the ICRC.
The suspension announcement came after some people tried to storm into the ICRC office in Gaza under the pretext of solidarity with Palestinian prisoner, Mohammad Qaiq.
The ICRC held contact with the Palestinian authorities in Gaza to make sure no one attacks the office nor its employees, spokesperson Zakkout said in a statement.
Zakkout added that the ICRC and all its staff are present in the headquarters located in the west of Gaza City and are engaged in their business as normal, in addition to the presence of supporters of Palestinian prisoners.(end).
