DPRK missile launch violates multiple UNSC resolutions - Kerry

WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- Secretary of State John Kerry reaffirmed on Sunday the US "ironclad commitment" to the security of Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) following North Korea's long-range missile launch.
In a phone call with ROK Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, Kerry condemned the launch as "a violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions that threatened international peace and security." "He emphasized the importance of a united international response to North Korea's provocations, including through a strong UN Security Council resolution," State Department Spokesperson John Kirby said.
Kerry further urged "continued close communication and cooperation among the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea in addressing the threats posed by North Korea," Kirby added. (end) ys.gb
