AMMAN, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- Jordan's Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour expressed on Sunday his country's gratitude to historic stances of the State of Kuwait, under leadership of His Highness the Amir, supporting the Kingdom in different fields.
This came during a meeting between Ensour, and Kuwait's Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Khaled Al-Khoder and his accompanying delegation, said a statement by Jordan's Cabinet.
Ensour extolled the development of Kuwait's political and democratic life, represented in excellent legislative authorities, democracy and independent media, stressing that Jordan is working on enhancing democracy and freedoms. He thanked Kuwait for its support which helps his country bear burdens of Syrian refugees, affirming the depth of relations between Jordan and Kuwait and keenness of promoting them in different domains to be in favor of the interest of the two peoples. Jordan can't afford additional burdens because of hosting Palestinian and Syrian refugees, he stressed.
The nation is hosting about 1.3 million Syrian refugees and this affects badly the country's infrastructure, and the sectors of tourism, health and education, he added.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Al-Khoder conveyed greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Premier to Jordan's King Abdullah II.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed developments in the Middle East region, bilateral ties and means of boosting them in different fields. Al-Khoder commended the "distinguished" relations between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Kuwait's Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij and officials from the Kingdom. (end) ab.hm
